pfd Studios Titlist conversion, Hoppe-style, #5 of 6 (PFD98-T59)
This 4-point classic Hoppe-style cue is one of an edition of six cues built by Paul Drexler in 1998 as homage to the late, great Herman Rambow, using full-spliced one-piece Titlists made by Brunswick in the late 1940's/early 1950's.
Description:
The four rosewood points have four traditionally colored veneers of dyed maple. The forearm is straight-grain maple. The Titlist, when fitted with a brass joint and leather wrap, was sold as the “Hoppe” cue. In the Rambow style, the butt sleeve has an ivory decorative ring and black phenolic butt cap. Rather than using a brass joint, Paul updated the cue with a Uni-Loc pin and stainless steel joint collar. The wrap is the traditional white with green speck Irish linen.
The full-spliced maple forearm has rosewood prongs with four colored veneers (purple, turquoise, brown, natural maple). Each point has a purpleheart spearhead inlay. According to Paul Drexler, these are among the very few Titlist conversions he made using the purpleheart point at the tip. Piloted stainless steel Uni-Loc joint; black linen phenolic joint and shaft collars with single silver ring (D&E). Hand written on the Ivory Hoppe ring: “#5 of 6 12-98 Pfd Studios.” The cue was in excellent 95% condition.
