Thomas Wayne (TW48) “Intarsia” 10 pt. Gabon Ebony, Pink Ivory, Purpleheart
Shown at the 1999 Gallery of American Cue Art in New York City
STOLEN December 1999 from Chalkers Billiard Club, San Francisco. The thief broke into the office of the club and took the cue butt and one shaft; the other shaft (pictured above) was in a separate case.
This is a one-of-kind Thomas Wayne cue made using intarsia techniques to create “flame” inlays in the points and butt sleeve. The Gabon ebony forearm has 5 long points made from intarsia “flames” of ebony, purpleheart, and pink ivorywood, bordered by veneers of English holly and French dyed holly. Overlapping these points are 5 matching short points without veneers.
The ebony butt sleeve has 5 large diamonds of Bloodheart burl bordered in holly and joined by pink ivorywood inlays. In between the diamonds are double flame inlays of purpleheart and pink ivory separated by small pink ivory diamond inlays. The bottom of the butt sleeve is trimmed with ivory “railroad track” ringwork set in black linen phenolic; matching ringwork at the black linen joint and shaft collar.
The original wrap was 2-tone linen but may have been changed.
NOTE: this cue has only ONE original 13mm shaft.
REWARD for return of cue or information leading to recovery of this cue.
